John 8:16-18
16 Even if I do judge, my judgment is true, for I am not alone, but I am with the Father who sent me. 17 It’s also written in your law that the testimony of two people is valid. 18 I am one who testifies about myself, and the Father who sent me testifies about me.” (WEB) Jesus was never alone when He came to earth two thousand years ago. His Father was always with Him. Even in the midst of the most fierce opposition, both Father and Son stood side by side. Sure there were times when Jesus needed to leave the masses to go to a remote place to be alone with His Dad, but even in the midst of the crowds, His Father was always with Him. This was very important to Jesus as we read in today's Scripture reading. The very focus of Jesus' life on earth was to honor and bring glory to God. Everything that Jesus did was a manifestation of His Father's heart. Every word He spoke came directly from His Father. As we live our lives in the fallen world around us, it is important for us to also know that we are not alone. Jesus told us in the Great Commission that He would be with us always, even unto the end of the world. In John 14, Jesus told us that He would come, and His Father would come, and both would make their home in us. Since we know that we are also the temple of the Holy Spirit, that means the entire Godhead dwells within us! Wherever you go, God goes. As Jesus told the crowds that He was never alone, we can say the same thing. My prayer today is that the abiding sense of the Lord's presence would be very evident to each one of us as we journey in this life. May we know that whatever God calls us to do, He will do it with us! Matthew 28:18-20 18 Jesus came to them and spoke to them, saying, “All authority has been given to me in heaven and on earth. 19 Go, and make disciples of all nations, baptizing them in the name of the Father and of the Son and of the Holy Spirit, 20 teaching them to observe all things that I commanded you. Behold, I am with you always, even to the end of the age.” Amen. (WEB) Comments are closed.
