2 Thessalonians 1:11-12
To this end we also pray always for you, that our God may count you worthy of your calling, and fulfill every desire of goodness and work of faith, with power; that the name of our Lord Jesus may be glorified in you, and you in him, according to the grace of our God and the Lord Jesus Christ. (WEB) Our God is a good God. He works all things together for our good (Romans 8:28) and it is His eternal plan that He would fulfill every desire of goodness and work of faith that is in the heart of a believer. For many of us, the very thought that God would use our heart's desires is a foreign concept. Some religious circles have even taught that our hearts are basically evil and we cannot trust what they say. While that may be true of our old nature, it is not true of our new nature in Christ. Now our bodies are the dwelling place of the Holy Spirit and the living God has knit His heart with our heart through the work that Jesus finished on the cross. Because of our holy union with Christ, we can now trust the godly desires of our heart! Philippians 2:13 tells us that God actually directs us through our heart's desires so that we can do His will.... For it is God who works in you both to will and to work, for his good pleasure. (WEB) Psalm 37:4 tells us that if we delight in the Lord, He will give us the desires of our heart. My prayer today is that we would all know that the godly longings of our heart are good. I pray that we would learn to live from our hearts more and more so that we can yield to the gentle leading of the Holy Spirit that directs us through them. May we know that it is our Father's will to fulfill every godly desire of goodness and work of faith that rises up within us! He is the One that actually made us the way we are so that we would desire to do the things that we were created to do. May we all know that it is by God's grace and His power that we will walk worthy of our calling so that He can fulfill every desire we have for goodness and every deed that we do that is prompted by our faith. The end result being that Jesus will be glorified in us and we will be glorified in Him! 2 Thessalonians 1:11-12 11 With this in mind, we constantly pray for you, that our God may make you worthy of his calling, and that by his power he may bring to fruition your every desire for goodness and your every deed prompted by faith. 12 We pray this so that the name of our Lord Jesus may be glorified in you, and you in him, according to the grace of our God and the Lord Jesus Christ.
