Matthew 12:46-50
46 While he was yet speaking to the multitudes, behold, his mother and his brothers stood outside, seeking to speak to him. 47 One said to him, “Behold, your mother and your brothers stand outside, seeking to speak to you.” 48 But he answered him who spoke to him, “Who is my mother? Who are my brothers?” 49 He stretched out his hand towards his disciples, and said, “Behold, my mother and my brothers! 50 For whoever does the will of my Father who is in heaven, he is my brother, and sister, and mother.” (WEB) In today's Bible reading, Jesus tells His disciples that those who do the will of His Father in heaven are considered more of His family than His actual blood relatives. In Ephesians 3:14-15, the Apostle Paul prays... 14 For this cause, I bow my knees to the Father of our Lord Jesus Christ, 15 from whom every family in heaven and on earth is named, (WEB). The kingdom of God is all about family. It is not about religion, it is not about programs, it is all about belonging to an amazing family. As Jesus came to do His Father's will, so should we. As we do, we are demonstrating to the world that we are joint heirs with Jesus (Romans 8:15-17) and sons and daughters to the Most High. My prayer today is that each one of us would know that we belong to the best family in the universe! We are not on the outside looking in, but on the inside looking out. And every one of us has a unique part to the play. May our passion in life be to simply do our Father's will wherever we go. John 8:35-36 35 A bondservant doesn’t live in the house forever. A son remains forever. 36 If therefore the Son makes you free, you will be free indeed. (WEB) Comments are closed.
