ALL THINGS WERE CREATED FOR HIM

Colossians 1:16-17
16 For by him all things were created, in the heavens and on the earth, things visible and things invisible, whether thrones or dominions or principalities or powers; all things have been created through him, and for him. 17 He is before all things, and in him all things are held together. (WEB)

I love today's Scripture reading that describes our elder brother Jesus Christ. This is part of a larger text which I will write about in another posting. But take a moment to read these two verses and reflect on their meaning.

All things in heaven and earth (visible and invisible) were created by our big brother! No throne or dominion or power was created apart from Him making it so. I love the line that says... all things have been created through him, and for him. Everything that He made was made for His pleasure. Jesus, the firstborn among many brothers and sisters (Romans 8:29), was the architect at His Father's side overseeing the creation process. (Read Proverbs 8:22-31 for a wonderful description of the creation process)

And verse 17 goes onto say that He is before all things and in him all things are held together. The very life of God is the glue that keeps the universe from spinning out of control. Whenever you feel like your own life is spinning out of control, remember this passage of Scripture. It is Jesus Himself that holds everything in this earth together. His very presence is in you and around you whether you feel Him or not.

My prayer today is that we would know that He created all things for His pleasure... and that includes you and me!  He loves you with all of His heart and His passion is that you would live an abundant, fruitful life which brings glory to His Father and your Father (John 15:8). He is close to you. Very close. Closer than you could possibly imagine. May you always feel the abiding presence of the Godhead in you and around you wherever you go.

Acts 17:24-28
24 The God who made the world and all things in it, he, being Lord of heaven and earth, doesn’t dwell in temples made with hands, 25 neither is he served by men’s hands, as though he needed anything, seeing he himself gives to all life and breath, and all things. 26 He made from one blood every nation of men to dwell on all the surface of the earth, having determined appointed seasons, and the boundaries of their dwellings,
27 that they should seek the Lord, if perhaps they might reach out for him and find him, though he is not far from each one of us. 28 ‘For in him we live, and move, and have our being.’ As some of your own poets have said, ‘For we are also his offspring.’ (WEB)
