ALL THINGS FROM THE FATHER

John 16:15
All things whatever the Father has are mine; therefore I said that he takes of mine, and will declare it to you. (WEB)

In today's Bible reading, Jesus is telling His disciples about the role of the soon coming Holy Spirit into their hearts. He tells them that the Spirit of God will take what belongs to Jesus (which is everything that belongs to His Father) and make it known to them. 

What a glorious promise! Everything that belongs to the Father, belongs to the Son. And everything that belongs to the Son is declared to us by the Spirit of God that makes His home in our hearts. That means that everything that belongs to our heavenly Dad belongs to us as well because we are in Christ!

In our union with Jesus, we lack absolutely nothing! He has freely given us everything that was freely given to Him through the promised Holy Spirit. Because we are His children (Romans 8:15-17), our Heavenly Father has given us His very own Spirit as a deposit that guarantees our heavenly inheritance. Through our divine union with the Godhead, everything that belongs to Jesus is now ours by virtue of our being IN Him. 

We are not left on our own to try and figure out how life is supposed to work. We have been given the Comforter (the Spirit of the Father and the Spirit of the Son) in order the we might know through and through all that is ours in Christ. May the reality of this inheritance become more real to us with every passing day.

Romans 8:15-17
15 For you didn’t receive the spirit of bondage again to fear, but you received the Spirit of adoption, by whom we cry, “Abba! Father!” 16 The Spirit himself testifies with our spirit that we are children of God;17 and if children, then heirs; heirs of God, and joint heirs with Christ; if indeed we suffer with him, that we may also be glorified with him.
