ALL THE FULLNESS

Colossians 1:18-20
18 He is the head of the body, the assembly, who is the beginning, the firstborn from the dead; that in all things he might have the preeminence. 19 For all the fullness was pleased to dwell in him; 20 and through him to reconcile all things to himself, by him, whether things on the earth, or things in the heavens, having made peace through the blood of his cross. This is part two of my blog about Paul's amazing description of our elder brother Jesus Christ that I started yesterday when I talked about Colossians 1:16-17. Time nor space would not allow me to write about this entire passage in one Daily Reading. Of course even books upon books could never do justice to the spiritual implications of the things that Paul writes about in these five verses so I am not sure what I can do in a few paragraphs, but here I go anyway...

In this passage of Scripture, Paul describes the glorious supremacy of our Lord and Savior, Jesus Christ. He tells us how Jesus is the head of the body, the firstborn from the dead and He IS the beginning! Paul goes on to say that through His shed blood on the cross, Jesus made a way to reconcile all things to Himself whether in heaven or on earth.

To think that we have the privilege of being named brothers and sisters to Jesus absolutely boggles my mind! We are not only part of His family, but we have actually been joined to Him so that when our Father sees us, He sees us as being one with His Son! We are joint heirs with Christ, seated together with Him on His throne in heaven, and by virtue of our union with Him, everything that belongs to Jesus now belongs to us.

If this revelation doesn't cause us to stand up and shout 'hallelujah!!!!!', I don't know what will. The one line that I want to focus on in today's blog is where Paul says... For all the fullness was pleased to dwell in him. Think about this statement for a minute.

ALL of the fullness of God was pleased to dwell in Jesus. Not in part, but ALL! The vast majesty and glory of the Godhead dwells in the person of Jesus Christ and it is Jesus Christ who in turn dwells in us! That means that the fullness of the Godhead also lives in us by virtue of us being joined with Jesus! If you are reading this today and you feel a disconnect in your brain to such a wonderful heavenly concept, don't worry.

The place where this revelation is alive and well right now is in your heart, for this is the place in your inner being that has been joined with Jesus. I want to encourage you that your spirit man knows this truth through and through. It is only in the realm of our body and our soul where these concepts are difficult to grasp.

My prayer today is that the reality of God's fullness dwelling in you through Christ would well up from your inner man and begin to affect every area of your soul (mind, will and emotions). I pray that the Spirit of Wisdom and Revelation (Ephesians 1:17) would give each one of us the power to grasp (Ephesians 3:16-21) the vastness of our Father's immeasurable love in Christ. May we all know that it pleases our Father's heart to have all of His fullness dwell in us because we dwell in the One whose name is above every name.

Ephesians 2:4-10
4 But God, being rich in mercy, for his great love with which he loved us, 5 even when we were dead through our trespasses, made us alive together with Christ (by grace you have been saved), 6 and raised us up with him, and made us to sit with him in the heavenly places in Christ Jesus, 7 that in the ages to come he might show the exceeding riches of his grace in kindness toward us in Christ Jesus; 8 for by grace you have been saved through faith, and that not of yourselves; it is the gift of God, 9 not of works, that no one would boast. 10 For we are his workmanship, created in Christ Jesus for good works, which God prepared before that we would walk in them.
