Colossians 3:14
Above all these things, walk in love, which is the bond of perfection. (WEB) In Colossians 3, the Apostle Paul is teaching the Colossians how to live a godly life. The chapter starts off with him encouraging them to set their affections on things above. From there, he talks about ridding themselves of the old nature and clothing themselves with their new nature. Then comes today's Bible verse... Above all these things, walk in love, which is the bond of perfection. (WEB) Once again, Paul re-states the priority of love in the Christian life. Above all these things, walk in love. In times when our Christian walk seems complicated, may we all be reminded of the simplicity that love brings. In 1 Corinthians 13, Paul goes in great detail to describe the futility of our Christian service without love being the primary motivator. When Jesus was asked what the greatest commandment was in Mark 12:28-34, He simply said in my paraphrased words... Love God and then love each other as you love yourself. Love is the fulfillment of the law and it triumphs over everything else. May we make love our greatest aim (1 Corinthians 14:1) in all that we do. God forbid that we would ever allow anything in our Christian life to supersede the priority of love in our lives. 1 John 4:16 We know and have believed the love which God has for us. God is love, and he who remains in love remains in God, and God remains in him. (WEB) Comments are closed.
