1 Peter 2:9-10
But you are a chosen race, a royal priesthood, a holy nation, a people for God’s own possession, that you may proclaim the excellence of him who called you out of darkness into his marvelous light: who in time past were no people, but now are God’s people, who had not obtained mercy, but now have obtained mercy. (WEB) Because we have obtained mercy from our God and Father through Jesus' work on the cross, our spiritual identity has been transformed. We have gone from darkness to light. From being a people with no spiritual inheritance to being people who belong to God. When you look in the mirror, which version of your identity do you see? Do you see yourself through the broken lens of your past or do you see yourself in the same way that God sees you? If you are anything like me, you probably tend to vacillate between one and the other. My prayer today is that we would see ourselves as God sees us. I pray that we would know in the very core of our being that we truly are God's own possession whom He loves with all His heart. Our past is in the past and may it stay there forever! The truth is that we have been chosen by God to be His royal priesthood and a holy nation that displays His splendor! It is a gift that He freely gave us when He sent His Son into the world to reconcile us back to His heart. There is nothing that we could ever do to earn or deserve what our Heavenly Papa has freely given us. The next time you look in the mirror, why not try declaring the truth of who you are from the perspective of Almighty God? If He has declared you righteous, then the only appropriate response is for to you agree with Him! Romans 8:28-34 28 We know that all things work together for good for those who love God, to those who are called according to his purpose. 29 For whom he foreknew, he also predestined to be conformed to the image of his Son, that he might be the firstborn among many brothers. 30 Whom he predestined, those he also called. Whom he called, those he also justified. Whom he justified, those he also glorified. 31 What then shall we say about these things? If God is for us, who can be against us? 32 He who didn’t spare his own Son, but delivered him up for us all, how would he not also with him freely give us all things? 33 Who could bring a charge against God’s chosen ones? It is God who justifies. 34 Who is he who condemns? It is Christ who died, yes rather, who was raised from the dead, who is at the right hand of God, who also makes intercession for us.
