1 Corinthians 8:5-6
5 For though there are things that are called “gods,” whether in the heavens or on earth; as there are many “gods” and many “lords;” 6 yet to us there is one God, the Father, of whom are all things, and we for him; and one Lord, Jesus Christ, through whom are all things, and we live through him. (WEB) In 1 Corinthians 8, Paul the Apostle is giving instruction to the Corinthian church concerning eating food sacrificed to idols. In today's text, he tells them that while there are many 'gods' in this world, there is only one God and Father of all and in whom all things consist. In Acts 17:28, Paul describes the Father's role to humanity by saying... "In Him we live and move and have our being...". May the reality of this truth be very real to each one of us today. The universe in which we live in does NOT contain God... Our Heavenly Father contains the entire universe and He has chosen us as His children and His heirs. Ephesians 4:4-6 4 There is one body, and one Spirit, even as you also were called in one hope of your calling; 5 one Lord, one faith, one baptism, 6 one God and Father of all, who is over all, and through all, and in us all.
