THE SEED OF THE RIGHTEOUS

Psalm 37:25-26
25 I have been young, and now am old, yet I have not seen the righteous forsaken, nor his children begging for bread. 26 All day long he deals graciously, and lends. His seed is blessed. (WEB)

This Bible passage comes from one of the psalms that David wrote. David knew a thing or two about hardship and opposition in his life. For anyone who has children or who plans to have children in the future, this is a very comforting promise. 

As a young boy, he had to kill a bear and a lion who were after the sheep in his care. As a young man, he had to kill a giant that wanted to make an example of him. Through his life, no matter what obstacles he encountered, his testimony was this... I have been young, and now am old, yet I have not seen the righteous forsaken, nor his children begging for bread.

In David's old age, he was able to reflect upon his life and on the faithfulness of his God. Sure there were lots of trials and tribulations that came his way. Being in relationship with the Most High didn't insulate him from having problems but... his testimony was that he had never seen the righteous forsaken or their children left in absolute poverty. For anyone who has children or plans to have children in the future, this is a very comforting promise.

My prayer today is that David's testimony would be our testimony too. No matter how much the world financial system shakes, may we rest upon the goodness and faithfulness of our God. No matter how high unemployment goes, or how low the stock markets fall, may our trust rest in the faithfulness of our Abba to provide for us and our kids.

May we all have a deeper revelation of our Father's desire to care for us and take great comfort in knowing that our seed will be blessed too!

Deuteronomy 7:9
Know therefore that Yahweh your God, he is God, the faithful God, who keeps covenant and loving kindness with them who love him and keep his commandments to a thousand generations, (WEB)
