THE GOOD SHEPHERD

John 10:14-16
14 I am the good shepherd. I know my own, and I’m known by my own; 15 even as the Father knows me, and I know the Father. I lay down my life for the sheep. 16 I have other sheep, which are not of this fold. I must bring them also, and they will hear my voice. They will become one flock with one shepherd. (WEB)

Jesus Christ, our Lord and our Savior, our friend and our redeemer, is many things to us. He is our elder brother, the captain of our salvation and the bridegroom to the church. He is also the good shepherd who knows everyone who belongs to Him.

In today's reading, Jesus describes the relationship between us and Him as similar to the one that He has with His Father. He knows us completely and He loves us completely and the most amazing thing is that we can know Him completely too (John 17:3).

My prayer today is that we would know just how much we are loved by God. The good shepherd was willing to exchange His life for our life in order for us to be completely reconciled and restored to His Father's eternal plan and purpose for our lives. May our hearts respond to His love by seeking to know Him more today than we have ever known Him before.

Hebrews 13:20-21
20 Now may the God of peace, who brought again from the dead the great shepherd of the sheep with the blood of an eternal covenant, our Lord Jesus,21 make you complete in every good work to do his will, working in you that which is well pleasing in his sight, through Jesus Christ, to whom be the glory forever and ever.
