2 Peter 1:5-8
Yes, and for this very cause adding on your part all diligence, in your faith supply moral excellence; and in moral excellence, knowledge; and in knowledge, self-control; and in self-control patience; and in patience godliness; and in godliness brotherly affection; and in brotherly affection, love. For if these things are yours and abound, they make you to be not idle nor unfruitful to the knowledge of our Lord Jesus Christ. (WEB) The Lord is building up His body brick by brick. Adding moral excellence to our faith, knowledge to our moral excellence, etc., with the end goal being love. The ultimate fruitfulness that God is after is for us to live a life of love (Jude 1:21). When we live in love, we live in God, and God lives in us. (1 John 4:16) My prayer today is that we would be encouraged as the Father conforms us to the image of His Son one brick at a time (Romans 8:29). He is in no hurry because love is patient. Love is kind (1 Corinthians 13:4). He understands us like no one else ever has (Psalm 103:13-14), and He has committed all of the resources of heaven towards our transformation. The truth is that we are all being changed from glory to glory, brick by brick, as we continue to behold Jesus's face. By gazing into His loving eyes, we will grow into all the love He has for us. 2 Corinthians 3:18 But we all, with unveiled face beholding as in a mirror the glory of the Lord, are transformed into the same image from glory to glory, even as from the Lord, the Spirit.
