The God of all comfort...

2 Corinthians 1:3-4
3 Blessed be the God and Father of our Lord Jesus Christ, the Father of mercies and God of all comfort; 4 who comforts us in all our affliction, that we may be able to comfort those who are in any affliction, through the comfort with which we ourselves are comforted by God. (WEB)

In this passage of Scripture, our Heavenly Father is called the God of ALL comfort. No matter what you are going through, His heart of compassion will comfort you so that you will be able to comfort others with the same comfort that you received from God.

The truth is that we all need to be comforted. As little children, when we fell down and scraped our knee, we looked to our parents to comfort us. As we grew older, the world system taught us to not be so vulnerable when we got hurt, so we looked for comfort in other places... because at the end of the day, we all still need to be comforted.

While comfort can be expressed by both men and women, it is predominantly a feminine expression. To illustrate the point, just think about when you were little. When you needed comfort, who would you mostly likely run to? ...Mom or dad? Most of us would answer... mom. Since God is the source of ALL love, He is able to love us with the comforting, nurturing heart that is often expressed by our mothers.

But the reality is, if we don't receive comfort from the Father of Compassion, we will seek it elsewhere. Some of us seek it in addictions, others in performance, and yet others in religious striving. God completely understands why we do such things because He created us with the need to be comforted.

My prayer today is that each one of us would have the freedom to run into the arms of our heavenly Father day or night whenever we need to be comforted. For Psalm 34:18 tells us... Yahweh is near to those who have a broken heart, and saves those who have a crushed spirit. (WEB)
