Sitting down with Jesus...

Revelation 3:21
He who overcomes, I will give to him to sit down with me on my throne, as I also overcame, and sat down with my Father on his throne. (WEB)

In today's Scripture reading we read that Jesus promises that every overcomer will sit down with Him on His throne. The Amplified version of Ephesians 2:6 describes this as saying that God has actually given us joint seating with Jesus! Let's read this verse... And He raised us up together with Him and made us sit down together [giving us joint seating with Him] in the heavenly sphere [by virtue of our being] in Christ Jesus (the Messiah, the Anointed One). (AMP)

Whenever I had read this verse before, I envisioned that perhaps Jesus would have a really big throne and we would have a bunch of small thrones. But both Revelation 3:21 and Ephesians 2:6 tells us that we will sit down with Jesus on His throne! What a glorious picture!

Our calling in life is to learn how to rule and reign with our elder brother (2 Timothy 2:12). My prayer today is that we would know that our calling is a royal calling. We are joint-heirs with Jesus and heirs of God (Romans 8:15-17). We are not servants that need to grovel to appease an angry master, but sons and daughters of the Most High who will sit down with Jesus on His throne one day. May these words bring a deeper sense of awe and wonder to the salvation that we all have received in Christ.

But you are a chosen race, a royal priesthood, a holy nation, a people for God’s own possession, that you may proclaim the excellence of him who called you out of darkness into his marvelous light: (WEB)
